अयि गिरिनन्दिनि नन्दितमेदिनि विश्वविनोदिनि नन्दनुते । गिरिवरविन्ध्यशिरोऽधिनिवासिनि विष्णुविलासिनि जिष्णुनुते ॥
Transliteration
Ayi Girinandini Nanditamedini Viśvavinodini Nandanute, Girivaravindhyaśiro'dhinivāsini Viṣṇuvilāsini Jiṣṇunute
Translation
O joyful daughter of the mountain, gladdener of the earth, delighter of the universe, praised by the joyous! You who dwell atop the great Vindhya peak, playful companion of Vishnu, praised by the victorious Indra.
Meaning
'giri-nandini' = mountain's daughter (Parvati/Durga); 'nandita-medini' = one who delights the earth; 'vishva-vinodini' = entertainer of the cosmos; 'vindhya-shiro-adhi-nivasini' = dweller atop Mount Vindhya; 'vishnu-vilasini' = companion of Vishnu's play; 'jishnu-nute' = praised by Indra.
