आदित्यहृदयं पुण्यं सर्वशत्रुविनाशनम् । जयावहं जपेन्नित्यमक्षय्यं परमं शिवम् ॥
Transliteration
Ādityahṛdayaṃ Puṇyaṃ Sarvaśatruvināśanam, Jayāvahaṃ Japennityamakṣayyaṃ Paramaṃ Śivam
Translation
This Aditya Hridayam is sacred, destroys all adversity, and brings victory; reciting it daily grants imperishable and supreme well-being.
Meaning
Spoken by the sage Agastya to Rama before his battle with Ravana, this verse names and praises the hymn itself, promising strength and protection.
