Transliteration
Ādideva Namastubhyaṃ Prasīda Mama Bhāskara, Divākara Namastubhyaṃ Prabhākara Namo'stu Te
Translation
Salutations to you, O first of gods; be gracious to me, O Bhaskara. Salutations to you, maker of the day; salutations to you, giver of light.
Meaning
The opening verse of the Surya Ashtakam, a garland of eight verses stringing together the sun's principal epithets as a plea for grace and well-being.
