विनायकः शिखां पातु परमात्मा परात्परः । अतिसुन्दरकायस्तु मस्तकं सुमहोत्कटः ॥
Transliteration
Vināyakaḥ Śikhāṃ Pātu Paramātmā Parātparaḥ, Atisundarakāyastu Mastakaṃ Sumahotkaṭaḥ
Translation
May Vinayaka, the Supreme Self beyond the highest, guard my crown of hair; may the exceedingly beautiful, mighty one guard my head.
Meaning
A protective (kavacha/'armor') verse assigning a body part to a named form of Ganesha: 'Vinayakah' guards the 'shikha' (topknot/crown), addressed as 'Paramatma Paratparah'; the form 'Sumahotkata' then guards the 'mastakam' (head). Kavachas continue this pattern down the whole body.
